About Moviesandbox

Moviesandbox is an Open-Source graphical filmmaking tool in progress, formerly developed for the Unreal Tournament engine and now based on C++ and OpenGL.

It allows you to easily create your own characters, sets and poses and direct them in the way you imagine. It is also an open project, which means that all the code and tools are free and open for people to change or add to, and, where possible, licensed under the lesser GPL. Development started in early 2006.

Moviesandbox - Animachine

Thursday, March 29, 2007

Just a heads up that Moviesandbox is used on an installation called "Animachine" at the Laboral Gameworld exhibit in Gijon in Spain. It features the new Ragdoll puppet function available to everyone in the next update.
One player can control a Ragdoll puppet that triggers special visual effects and siwtches cameras while another player can strum the guitar to play some chords and make the puppet's legs move to the beat.

package reference bug

Thursday, March 15, 2007

I just got informed that 1350 has the dreaded package reference bug and does not start up correctly. The problem has been fixed now by including the packages and hopefully it won't happen again.
If any of you would volunteer as pre-Beta testers to make sure these things don't happen again, please let me know (=eMail me). All you have to do is try out the new version of MSB before it gets officially posted, so things like these don't happen again.
I'm terribly sorry for the inconvenience. And thanks to Michael for pointing this out.

Here's the direct download link for 1350Beta..

new Version 1350Beta

Monday, March 12, 2007

Hello Moviesandboxers,

Version1350 finally uses the improved Mod-structure, which means that everything is now neatly stowed in only one folder within your UT2004 installation, making future updates more reliable and lots easier for both you and me.

Apart from the directory change, there's a new "container" function in the Sceneditor. You can now contain selected nodes into a container to make room for new nodes and allow for better node structuring.
To select multiple nodes, hold shift and move your mouse over the other nodes you want to select. No clicking necessary.
To move the nodes, right click on one of them and move them all around.
To contain the nodes, simply hit the "." (point) key
To deselect, simply click somewhere else on the screen.

I will packag a pre-Beta version of the Tracer and Milkscanner programs for Moviesandbox soon, but i do not have enough time to do the tutorials and a bit more sturdy implementation now. If you want to get your hands on them, feel free to eMail me and i can send you the sourcecode and compiled versions.

Get the 1350Beta from thewiki download page!
Have fun and let me know how things work.
